LED Lighting – The Facts Part 1

Everyday we get phone calls from customers who want to swap to LED lighting but just do not have enough information to justify making the switch.
In this article we hope to help those who might want to know but can’t get through the myths and facts –
Myth 1 – LEDs cost a lot of money
Fact – LEDs are, after all chips which overtime will always see reductions in price. In the last 5 years we have seen a drastic drop in prices for LED lighting, as well as an improvement in quality.
A 50 watt halogen will generally set you back about 80p but will use 50 watts of power and last around 2,000 hours.
The LED replacement, which is usually 5 watts can cost around the £2.00 mark. This lamp will usually last around 25,000 hours though meaning far less replacing.
If you have say 20, 50 watt halogens in use and swapped them to 5 watt LEDs you would see a reduction of 900 watts of power! Most LEDs come with at least a 2 year manufacturers guarantee too!
